Valentine’s Day is coming up and I’ve found the perfect spot for you love birds in Atlanta! Cape Town, SA was one of my very favorite travel destinations and luckily Cape Dutch restaurant brings a bit of that South African feel right here to Atlanta! The ambiance, the staff, and the food were all 5 stars in my book and I would HIGHLY recommend it.When you enter the restaurant, you’re greeted by a sultry bar area with picturesque scenes in every corner. The rich wood features mixed with different textures and neutral colors were very reminiscent of the places I visited back in South Africa. As you walk through to the dining area, you will find an expansive wine bar as well as an authentic South African braai. In the early evening, daylight streams through the windows and as the sun sets the ambiance transitions from modern and bright to more sophisticated and romantic. In either setting, the decor was beautiful.
The food was cooked to perfection. We had the lobster tails and burrata as appetizers, and although I absolutely loved both I’m going to tell you that you shouldn’t leave the restaurant until you’ve tried the lobster tails. They were seasoned perfectly and I almost devoured them before even trying the sauces. For our entrees, we had two versions of Sea Bass. Once again, I highly recommend them both but the whole fish that was cooked for us on the traditional South African braai had a truly unique taste. This is because the braai is cooked over a wood-flame which gives off an amazing smokey taste.
The staff was exceptional and provided us with a great service. They were so knowledgable about the menu and recommended great wine pairings for us from the extensive wine menu, many of which are South African wines (my favorite). They also recommended the delicious chocolate soup for dessert which was such a unique item on the menu and might be a bit addictive for the chocolate lovers out there!
There are also several spaces that a perfect for large groups and gatherings. Get in your car right now and drive to Buckhead to visit Cape Dutch. This restaurant was so amazing that I would be remiss to not share this amazing establishment with you!
